Maria Sharapova vs. Alize Cornet -2011 Fed Cup match preview

Maria Sharapova from Russia will be playing Alize Cornet from France at the Fed Cup. This will be the third singles match between Russia and France. Sharapova is ranked thirteenth among the WTA world rankings.
Sharapova has been churning out consistent results this year. But the Russian has not been performing to her best standards. She had a quarterfinal appearance at Aukland where she lost to Greta Arn, the eventual winner of the title. Sharapova is ranked number 13 in the world.
Cornet has not had an amazing 2011 but has gone about taking her responsibilities well at the Fed Cup. She pulled an upset against higher ranked Svetlana Kuznetsova as her counterpart Virginie Razzano also clubbed a victory against Sharapoca. Cornet is ranked at number 67 in the world.
This is the first time that both players have played each other. Sharapova has to win this for her country to keep the hopes of winning in this tie. Cornet is known for her commendable footwork and strategic volleys which she will be using efficiently in the match. Sharapova on the other hand can cause damage with her forehands and aggressive backhands from the back of the court. This match can land up in three sets and can go either way.
